Fancy Places and lost friends
Last night we went for our dinner at The Fancy Place. It's near my house, called Catablu. THe building used to be a neighborhood movie theater, and then in the 70s, it was a porn theater called Cinema Blue. So the name is really quite clever. Needless to say, it's been totally redone. The food was awesome. We didn't have appetizers or drinks, and the bill with tip was 77 bucks. (I know, for Big City People, that's nothin'. For us hicks in the Midwest, that's a lot for two people!) But I'm not complaining....while I am usually a cheap date, and the Mexican joint near my house is a favorite place, I also LOVE good food that's well presented, so I was happy for a night out, and happy to pay for Beloved's birthday dinner. (actually, I take it as a point of pride that I can be happy with a burger, but still appreciate fine dining as well) I still have dessert left, which I think I will have for breakfast, even though it will send me into insulin shock. It was just too rich to eat all of last night. Just got an email from a college friend I've lost touch with and have been trying to hook back up with for AGES. I'm psyched! She was one of my roommates freshman year, and I just love her. Since I didn't have time to make Beloved his Birthday Pie, I suggested that tomorrow I make a pot of chili, and Birthday Pie, and he can come over for the IU game. He jumped on that idea. So it all worked out in the end. Not sure when I will amble into work today. The boss said to make "liberal use" of the "religious holidays as appropriate" clause in the employee handbook. So I might just take a late morning nap and go in late.
