I am married to a fifty four year old man. Went out to dinner with the inlaws this evening. Haven't seen them since Giftmas, so it was nice to have a visit. Bought new light fixtures for the porch.
I think they will look way cool. Husband is working on taxes. We are in a pickle. A pickle we THOUGHT we had made SURE to avoid. In 2005, Husband sold a life insurance policy for the cash value. We decided that would be a good way to pay off a hunk of stuff, etc, etc. WE MADE SURE before we took one cent of the proceeds that taxes were taken out. He talked to the Thrivent people and said "We don't want to get burned at tax time, take the taxes out now". We were assured it was all good. It's not. Oh, it's so not good. It's looking like we're going to owe 1700 bucks. FUUUUCCCCCK. Because of course we have that just lying around. Damn damn damn! We were counting on the REFUND to help with Project Porch, now we not only AREN'T going to have a refund, we're almost 2k in the hole! And I'm just so pissed. It feels like we were sucker punched. I can probably kiss the NY reunion goodbye this year...it was going to be tight to afford it BEFORE this happened. Just. Son of a bitch. We go to work every day, we follow the rules, we're so freakin' Joe Average. And we get fuc43ed in the behind. It's "only" 2 grand, but right now, it's going to be a big deal.
